Queen of Heaven

Nicholas Roerich
Dedication To The Fresco, Church Of Princess Tenisheff’S Estate, 1910

Far up lies the celestial path. The perilous river of life flows along. On its rocky banks perish inexperienced voyagers who are unable to discern the direction of good and of evil. The All-merciful Queen of Heaven is solicitous about the inexperienced voyagers. The All-benevolent One speeds Her help to those on the hazardous paths. She wants to envelope the whole human sorrow of sin with a virgin veil. Out of the resplendent city, from the wondrous abode of the angelic hosts rises the All-benevolent One. She gathers all her saintly helmsmen and lifts up Her prayers for humankind.

The angels marvel at the labors of the Queen. Out of the stronghold, legions arise in action. An effulgent, beatific host is pledged to the great achievement. They sound their trumpets in glory to the Queen. From within the ramparts rise the Archangels. Cherubim and Seraphim gather about the Mother of the Lord. The Empowered, the Enthroned, the Ruling Ones aspire together. The Great Sources, which comprise the Mystery draw near. To the Holy Spirit, to the Great Lord, the Queen of Heaven transmits Her prayers; for the voyagers of limited understanding, for the visitations of God’s paths, for salvation, protection, all-mercy. Thus the Great Spirit helps!

A great prayer rises unto Thee. The virgin prayer of the Mother of the Lord. Let us bring thanks to the Protectress! Let us proclaim the Mother of the Lord: Every living thing rejoices in Thee, Blessed One.

Maria Theresia - Raja Laxmi

"In your country itself, Mozart was a realised soul. Your Queen Maria Theresia was a realised soul. But how will you know whether they were realised or not. Two Indians who came with Me who are realised souls, went down to the castle of Maria Theresia and came back and told Me: Mother, was she a realised soul? I said how do you know. They said tremendous vibrations from her photograph, from her statue were coming".
Extract: H.H. Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi:
Public Program, Deutsches Museum, 7.9.1984

"As you know that it was a very great country and Austria was regarded as one of the motherly countries. You’ve been a very balanced country. You had Maria Theresia, as a very great, great queen, I think, and all this happened there, there was a Raja-Lakshmi there. But to get the Mahalaxmi Spirit, to bring it to the Mahalaxmi, seeking should start."

Prayer to Shri Raja Laxmi

Victory to the destroyer of all our miseries!
You are the One who loves us,
You are the Giver of all the fruits of our prayers,
chariots, elephants, horses and footservants,
It´s a total congregation of all the people,
The world bows down to You.
The Lords Vishnu, Shiva and Brahma worship You and serve You.
You lift the sadness of people who are in extreme sorrow,
They come to Your Feet.
Oh, Shri Raja Lakshmi, Thou Who Art the
Giver of help and prosperity,
Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi,
I bow to Thee, You rule over me.

Festival of Lights

… Right side is the Raja Lakshmi… I would say once this Raja Lakshmi business comes up then you will understand the respect, because once you respect yourself you start respecting others also. And that you are all saints, you have to respect each other in the same way.
… And today now the light, light is there. Light is a very important thing. From the very beginning, you see, when man discovered the fire, the fire was used in the Gruha Lakshmi state where the fire cooked the food, and you see the warmth of the Mother was shown through that heat she used in the house to warm up her children, to give them food and all that. Then it became, say, a very collective thing, it is expressed as light, you see. If you have to celebrate say your Republic day or your Independence Day we put the lights on, or we have fireworks. You see to express ourselves that way is in the Raja Lakshmi.

Diwali Puja – November 1981, Festival of Light

Mahalaxmi Principle

"Mahalakshmi's incarnation is very important for
Sahaja Yoga. First she establishes our dharma by which
we become righteous, we become religious in the real
sense. After the light of realization we cannot do
anything which is not Dharma. As you know what Dharma
is and the Mariadas the boundaries of our behaviour

This transformation takes place automatically, I don't
have to tell you, "don't do this, don't do this" -
like 10 commandments. You yourself establish your
dharma and enjoy your virtues. This happens, has
already happened to all of you with the Grace of
Mahalakshmi.

Then she starts bestowing blessings on you, first the
blessing is of physical well-being by which your
sympathetic nervous system gets into proper shape and
a balance is established as if the Mahalakshmi
prinicple holds the reins and you cannot cross the
limits, you cannot go too much to the left or to the
right.

By this principle you realize what is wrong with the
outside religions you realize that also inside all the
religions are born like flowers on the same tree of
spirituality and automatically you start worshipping
all the prophets right from Abraham, Moses to
Confucius, Laotse, Guru Nanak, Mohammed Sahib. You
worship them, it is not that you have respect - you
worship and thus you lose the barriers of
fundamentalisms.

By the ascent in this principle you achieve the
personality and become a universal being and you
understand the problems of your country and your race
to transcend what is wrong with them and how to
correct them . When the Mahalakshmi principle is
awakened we realise that outside we may be different
but inside we are just the same. All the Masters and
prophets are just the same whatever religion they
might have been born."

Cybele - Queen of the Gods

In Greek and Roman times Cybele is called the 'Mother of the Gods'.
A hymn of the second to third century AD adresses Cybele also as Queen and Goddess of the Gods:

The food of life
Thou metest out in eternal loyalty
And, when life has left us,
We take our refuge in Thee
Thus everything Though dolest out
Returns into thy Womb.
Rightly though art called the Mother of the Gods
Because by Thy loyalty
Though hast conquered the power of the Gods.
Verily Though art also the Mother
Of the peoples and the Gods,
Without Thee nothing can thrive nor be;
Though art powerful, of the Gods Though art
The Queen and also the Goddess.

Isis - Queen of the Three Worlds

Lo, I am with you, moved by your prayers,
I who am the mother of the universe,
the mistress of all elements,
the first offspring of time,
the highest of all deities,
the queen of the souls,
foremost of the heavenly beings,
the single form that fuses all gods and goddesses;
I who order by my will the starry heights of heaven,
the healing-giving breezes of the sea,
and the awful silences of those in the underworld:
My single godhead is adored by the whole world
in varied forms,
in differing rites and with
many diverse names.

En adsum tuis commota, precibus,
rerum naturae parens,
elementorum omnium domina,
saeculorum progenies initialis,
summa numinum,
regina (m)anium,
prima caeltium,
deorum dearumque facies uniformis,
quae caeli luminosa culmina,
maris salubria flamina,
inferum deplorata silentia nutibus meis dispenso:
cuius numen unicum multiformis specie,
ritu vario,
nomine multiiugo totus veneratur orbis.

Novalis - Beloved Queen from 'Spiritual Songs'

Wer einmal, Mutter, dich erblickt,
Wird vom Verderben nie bestrickt,
Trennung von dir muß ihn betrüben,
Ewig wird er dich brünstig lieben
Und deiner Huld Erinnerung
Bleibt fortan seines Geistes höchster Schwung.

Ich mein es herzlich gut mit dir,
Was mir gebracht, siehst du in mir.
Laß, süße Mutter, dich erweichen,
Einmal gib mir ein frohes Zeichen.
Mein ganzes Dasein ruht in dir,
Nur einen Augenblick sei du bei mir.

Oft, wenn ich träumte, sah ich dich
So schön, so herzensinniglich,
Der kleine Gott auf deinen Armen
Wollt des Gespielen sich erbarmen;
Du aber hobst den hehren Blick
Und gingst in tiefe Wolkenpracht zurück;

Was hab ich, Armer, dir getan?

Daß es dereinst mich wieder fände;

Novalis, Geistliche Lieder, 1802

Who once hath seen thee, Mother fair,
Destruction him shall never snare;
His fear is, from thee to be parted;
He loves thee evermore, true-hearted;
Thy grace remembered is the source
Whereout springs hence his spirit's highest force.

My heart is very true to thee;
My ever failing thou dost see:
Let me, sweet mother, yet essay thee--
Give me one happy sign, I pray thee.
My whole existence rests in thee:
One moment, only one, be thou with me.

I used to see thee in my dreams,
So fair, so full of tenderest beams!
The little God in thine arms lying
Took pity on his playmate crying:
But thou with high look me didst awe,
And into clouds of glory didst withdraw.

What have I done to thee, poor wretch?
To thee my longing arms I stretch!
Are not thy holy chapels ever
My resting-spots in life's endeavour?
O Queen, of saints and angels blest,
This heart and life take up into thy rest!

Thou know'st that I, beloved Queen,
All thine and only thine have been!
Have I not now, years of long measure,
In silence learned thy grace to treasure?
While to myself yet scarce confest,
Even then I drew milk from thy holy breast.

Oh, countless times thou stood'st by me!
I, merry child, looked up to thee!
His hands thy little infant gave me
In sign that one day he would save me;
Thou smiledst, full of tenderness,
And then didst kiss me: oh the heavenly bliss!

Afar stands now that gladness brief;
Long have I companied with grief;
Restless I stray outside the garden!
Have I then sinned beyond thy pardon?
Childlike thy garment's hem I pull:
Oh wake me from this dream so weariful!

If only children see thy face,
And, confident, may trust thy grace,
From age's bonds, oh, me deliver,
And make me thine own child for ever!
The love and truth of childhood's prime
Dwell in me yet from that same golden time.

Novalis, Spiritual Songs

Novalis

    WITH THEM THE HEAVENLY QUEEN,

AND WITH GLOW OF SACRED LOVE,
